Message from Chair

Hello from the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC), and welcome to the summer edition of our newsletter. I hope you had a well-deserved break and were able to spend time with friends and family.

Changes to CPD for the 2023–25 triennium in effect now

The long-discussed changes from points to hours have now come into effect, with GPs now required to complete 50 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) as opposed to points. If you’re still not sure how everything works, there are some links later in this newsletter to help you.

Better Access Review

An evaluation of the Better Access initiative was undertaken in 2022 by the University of Melbourne. The final report has been made available, with 15 recommendations made to the Australian Government to ensure better outcomes and access to care for all Australians. You can read the report here.

Wonca 2023 submission

After the excitement and success that was RMA22 and GP22, the GPMHSC is finalising two WONCA23 submissions relating to trauma-informed care and FPS workshops. If all goes well, we hope to see you in Sydney at the end of the year!
