Talking about trauma – What GPs need to know

It’s common for GPs to see patients who experience the emotional and physical impacts of trauma. Having the knowledge and skills to help facilitate an open and non-judgemental discussion on trauma can be a positive experience for the patient.

'Talking about trauma' for GPs and primary healthcare providers is a fact sheet published by the Blue Knot Foundation. It provides practical evidence-based information, tools and resources to help you better identify and support patients with unresolved trauma. The fact sheet also highlights how the personal-recovery journey can be supported by goal-setting and reinforcing the strengths and positive dispositions of survivors of trauma.
