New study looking to quickly identify neurological disorders

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking patient referrals for research on establishing a simple screening blood test for GPs and other specialists for quicker, more accurate diagnosis of dementia and other causes of neuropsychiatric symptoms.

Patients should be aged 40–80, with recent (within five years) cognitive, psychiatric, and/or neurological symptoms. Eligibility criteria and a brief two-minute referral form is available online.

The main requirement for patients is also minimal: a simple blood test, which can be done close to home.

Visit the MiND study website for more information about the study.
