Mental health is the most common reason people visit their GP


In November last year, the RACGP released the fourth edition of General Practice: Health of the Nation 2020. The report provides facts and trends in Australian general practice, shining a light on its strengths and focus areas, as well as on aspects that require further policy action.

For the fourth consecutive year, psychological issues like depression, anxiety and sleep disturbance were the most commonly seen presentations in general practice. The report also demonstrates that mental health is the second most commonly identified area GPs want to see prioritised by the Australian Government.
