Message from Chair

Hello from the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC), and welcome to the Spring edition of our newsletter.

Mental health training standards 2023–25

We recently launched the new Mental health training standards for 2023–25 at ACRRM conference Rural Medicine Australia (RMA22). The information session was well attended by delegates who contributed to discussions around the summary of changes and revision of the General Practice Mental Health Training Framework. For those attending GP22 in Melbourne later this month, I’ll be presenting a similar session on 26 November.

The new standards are available as a guide for GPs and as a guide for training providers. You can find more information on both guides later in this newsletter.

Changes to CPD for the 2023-25 triennium

Changes are coming to CPD for the new triennium, including a switch from points to hours. GPs will now need to complete a minimum of 50 hours of CPD per year. You can find more information and links later in this newsletter.

Focussed psychological strategies CPD requirements

With two months until the end of the triennium, remember that all GP providers of focussed psychological strategies must complete one FPS CPD activity before 31 December 2022. This will ensure you remain compliant and registered with Medicare Australia into the next triennium. You can find GPMHSC-accredited FPS CPD activities on our website.

GPMHSC wellbeing stand at GP22

Finally, the GPMHSC will be sponsoring the wellbeing stand at GP22 on 25–27 November. The GPMHSC secretariat will be there to discuss all things mental health training, and there will be free five-minute massages. We hope to see you there!
