Self-care and mental health resources for GPs
General practice is recognised as a rewarding and fulfilling career; however, by its very nature, can be stressful and at times challenging. Multiple barriers exist in the poor uptake of mental health services by GPs, including perceived stigma and concerns regarding potential career implications. The GPMHSC encourages all GPs and health professionals to seek support for their own physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
To increase awareness of available support, the RACGP has developed Self-care and mental health resources for general practitioners. This resource offers practical self-care strategies aimed at developing and supporting mentally healthy GP communities across Australia.
